Indonesia's Merapi Volcano Erupts

Eruption of Mount Merapi has taken the lives of 73 people were killed and at least 100,000 people have fled leaving their homes.

Most recent eruption occurred on Friday (5/11/2010) early this morning, more powerful than before. Safe limit was shifted from a radius of 15 km to 20 km, to avoid loss of life or injury due to many more hot clouds (wedhus gembel) that spewed out of Merapi.


To avoid panic, social networking has spread distance of the peak of Merapi to some areas around the volcano. As to the Pakem (14 km), then go to Malioboro (30 km), UGM Campus (26 km), Klaten (25 km), Boyolali (17 km), and Magelang (26 km).
